Sketches for this class are available here: github.com/FutureVision-Research/coding_arduino

In this class, we conclude the Section 2 quiz and then build Activity 1 from Section 3, which uses PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) to generate tones.

Homework: Once you confirm your build is working. Type in your own copy of the sketch by using the code provided in the workbook. Then add comments explaining the sketch.

In this class, we continue our discussion on the tone() function. We then explore an overview of electromechanical device and build Activity 2.

Homework: Have Activity 2 ready for the next class.

In this class, we review Activity 2 and then build Activity 3 as we learn how to control the speed of a motor.

Homework: Review presentation slides 21-33, which cover DC motors.

In this class, we review Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and how it is used to control the speed of a motor. We then build Activity 4 and learn how to connect the L293 H-bridge Integrated Circuit (IC).

Homework: Build Activity 4 and have it ready for the next class. After you test the circuit with the sketch in Github. Type a fresh version of the sketch provided in the workbook and add comments.

Note: There was no class on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

In this class, we review Activity 4 and learned more about H-bridge circuits and how they work. We also learn how to control an H-bridge from code. We then build Activity 5 and learn about servomotors.

Homework: Type in your own copies of Activities 4 and 5 after testing your circuit using the sketch provided in Github.

In this class, we review the various electromechanical devices used in this Section. We then build Activity 6 and learn how to control a stepper motor.

Homework: Ensure that your build of Activity 6 is working and have it ready for the next class.

In this class, we review Activity 6 and then learn more about stepper motors. We learn both how stepper motors work and how to control them using the stepper.h library. We conclude class by covering tips for debugging programs.

In this class, we conclude our discussion on debugging and then begin our review of the Section 3 Quiz.

In this class, we cover more questions from the Section 3 quiz. We then build Activity 1 using addressable LEDs, which is from the bonus Section 4 workbook.

Homework: Have Activity 1 built and ready for the next class.

In this class, we review Activity 1 and learn more about addressable LEDs. We then build Activity 2 and learn about rotary encoders.

Homework: Build Activity 3 and have it ready for the next class.

In the class, we examined the sketches for Activities 1 and 2. We then complete Activity 3 and control the programmable LEDs with the rotary encoder. We conclude class with a review of resources to continue learning.
